Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. —1 Corinthians 2:16
God is always willing to give us good things! The Bible tells us He gives us good gifts, but we have to be willing to receive them (see Matthew 7:11). The reality is God gave His only Son so we could have every good thing given to us, for us. However, receiving from God is not always as easy as it sounds.
A few years back I remember really struggling with God. I was overwhelmed with what He was allowing to happen in my life. I was complaining about it and telling Him what I really thought (I’m sure you’ve never done that… HA!). I’ll never forget His voice, gentle but stern, saying to me, “Havilah, true trust is believing my intentions toward you are always good.” I was overcome with emotion. I began to weep, just feeling His kindness towards me. I understood in that moment that I had been questioning His intentions toward me. I felt like my mountain was too big for God to handle. I was not getting the breakthrough fast enough. My relationship with God was difficult because it lacked true trust and I was unaware of the reality of God’s goodness to me. It was a wrong belief God wanted to uproot from my heart.
Today we are talking about receiving the mind of Christ and I want to ask you a question: How good are you at receiving from God? When it comes down to it, do you feel His movement in your heart and mind? It’s really important that you dig deep and answer this question. Please know there is no wrong answer here.
