DAY 6: Success vs Failure

Part of successfully climbing out of our pit is understanding that there is so much more waiting for us at the top! There are many more mountains to climb, and deeper personal encounters in order to meet the love of God that waits to envelop us as we walk into eternity. It’s going to be worth it!

So, we must be fully persuaded that God is all for our success. Our fruitfulness will bring glory to Him and His Son. One of my favorite quotes is, “God gets more glory out of me being a success than me being a failure.” Once we understand that God uses our success to show the world His strength and glory, it allows us to joyfully endure seasons of struggle and believe for moments of triumph.

In John 5:20, Jesus promises us this very thing, For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.

As you can see, the story of our success was in Christ’s heart long ago. He saw the Father doing greater things through us than He ever did on Earth. He saw us succeeding and bringing glory to the Father even before we were born. Success means accomplishing something we set out to do. So, if the success we want is to do the very thing we were created to do and bring the Father glory, then God wants us to be successful!

Many times our success story will begin with us committing to doing whatever and going wherever He asks us. We have to be committed to the process to such an extent that we almost ignore the parts that seem too difficult and lean into His strength, believing He’s going to use these struggles to bring glory and success to our lives.

Another part of our success is understanding that God is waiting to be glorified. He is willing to use us to glorify Himself by using our fragility and humanity to display His glory. If we hang out, waiting for opportunities and invitations to display His glory, we will realize that even God has to wait for divine invitations and opportunities. In our natural minds, it seems crazy for the God of the universe to wait for us to respond to His leadings. Perhaps the most humbling is the realization that His plan is centered around using our hearts and actions to display His image and glory on Earth.
