DAY 8: God vs Devil

DAY 8: God vs Devil

In order to DO HARD THINGS well we must recognize there is a real enemy to our destiny. He is a liar and a thief (see John 10:10). He would love nothing better than to define you by your failures. Reminding you that your “label” is Failure, and that your true nature, at the end of the day, is to fail and you can’t change. Remember he is a LIAR! He doesn’t have to speak the truth, he just needs you to believe his lies.

The first thing the devil wants to do in your life is render you powerless. He wants you to buy into the lie that you are still fighting for your victory and if you work hard enough or try hard enough, you may succeed. It is a lie. You are not working “for” victory, you are working “from” victory. You’re not working “for” love, you are living as someone who “is” loved. He wants you to be exasperated trying everything and anything to make you win. You have already won! The Bible teaches that the devil is under your feet and you do not need to fight for victory anymore. You are victorious!

1 John 5:4 reminds us, “Everyone born of God overcomes the world.” The devil believes that the Earth is his and everything in it. He thinks, “just because you are in the world you are of the world.” He is wrong. You now belong to Jesus. Jesus paid the price for your soul. When Jesus died on the cross and took your punishment for the sins you committed (unforeseen and premeditated), you were instantaneously set free. All of Earth’s customs and superficial ways of living are no longer what matters to us. What Jesus died to give us is the biggest reality in our lives!

In the previous chapter, John also reminds us, “Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.” The enemy will want you to believe the darkness and evil in this world have the same power as God and His Heavenly host. The truth is, the devil is not a god. He is a fallen angel. God is the only one true God. He stands alone. The devil’s destiny is set and he goes straight to Hell when Jesus returns.

One of the primary weapons the enemy has is FEAR. He loves to paralyze the people of God with fear. Causing us to stop fighting from a place of victory and getting down in the trenches with him and his demons. Listen! It’s your time to climb up on the mountain of faith. Take a look at the world from how God sees it. He loves the world and He’s giving every person in the world every chance to choose Him before He returns. But God isn’t worried if the devil is going to win and if we will lose. Nevertheless, our complete victory will require serious diligence and a commitment to not be dominated by the seductions in this world.
How you choose to live is the biggest decision you get to make. You can live powerless or powerful, fearful, or faith-filled. You can determine to climb the mountain or you can hang out in the valley with your friends, coworkers, parents and never see the life you were intended to live. God did not send His only son to die an excruciating death so you can live fighting a devil, believing his lies, and keeping you down. The greatest way you can celebrate Jesus and the cross is to acknowledge what He did and to live a life worthy of the calling you received. (see Ephesians 4:1)

Being constantly “fight focused” really weakens us in our everyday life. Being “Jesus focused” strengthens us in deep places we aren’t even conscious of. Nothing kills the victim mentality like being Jesus focused. Life becomes more about Him & others than ME. The only environment I can totally control is between my ears. Jesus gave us victory over that geography as well if we just “walk the land” in there it’s ours.

Great addition to this devo today. To remember that our head is our main battle ground! Thanks for that :)

I love the word about lies that question the Father’s character…I have heard those lies in the last 24 hours! Such a good reminder that turns the tables on the questioner and brings his lies into question!

Beautiful! I have been surrounded by little lies. From family members that I loved dearly, to ones within myself. I broke free from some that really held me back. But I’ve realized that there were more. This year…the power is “the victory has already been one”. I don’t know how or when the full glory will be realized within me, but I’m so ready for “my story” and may it be THIS year…if not NOW, then when? It’s time.

I love what you said about how God doesn’t give us ‘just enough’. We are royalty and he is our king. Why would any king only give his children enough to get by, when he has every resource avaliable. He’s also good and perfect and know how much we can handle. If we don’t have the new running car it’s because he knows we will learn more and show him more honor without it at the moment.

I grew up without alot of things and I thought God wanted it like that, because last would be first and we needed to suffer in order to show him honor. I’m learning that that was a lie and that God will provide more than just our essentials.

    Havilah,

I love this! Thank you for reminding me that I am powerful and loved because of what Jesus did and who he is! More powerful even than the Devil! “You can tell him where to go.” I love that! Not only is he not equal in power to God but he also has no power over us that we do not give him. I am loving this study. Thank you again for pouring out your life!

Love today’s video!! It’s the little lies that become breading ground for hopelessness and despair. I can’t tell you how many tiny lies, left to fester in the core of who I am, have hurt my relationships… both with God and others. That said, once I’ve recognized them for what they are it has allowed me to overcome.

My favorite part…. “You can tell the devil where he needs to go….” AMEN! :)

What a great read!!!! I love this!!! The devil is a lie. The devil comes to kill, steal, and destroy the little faith and hope that any of has left. Well, devil my faith is stronger than it has every been. God, I thank you for eye opener. I thank you for the Thirst conference. I thank you for daily Bible reading. I thank you God for praying family members, friends, and even strangers. God, I thank you for me believing and walking in faith. I thank you God for forgiveness of myself.

thank you , it was just the word I need for today, you know we hear this all our life , but I think sometimes because we hear it all the time , we forget or turn it out. But we are Love and our Father is the God of all and we are his , God will give all me need and more, and at the right time , his time.
God Bless and thank you again!

Just wanted to share what the Lord just illustrated to me while doing day 7:
If you knew you were going to win the championship game – you’d play in the glory of that confidence. The diligence and determination to win is still required but rather than being paralyzed by the fear of failure the fear itself would be paralyzed and replaced with confidence and faith in the outcome – The victory already one at the cross, the hope inside of us.
Thank you Havilah for your blessing today and every day i am truly blessed. Praise Jesus. :-)

I was so encouraged by your statements today: “You are not working ‘for’ victory, you’re working ‘from’ victory. You’re not working ‘for’ love, you are living as someone who ‘is’ loved. It caused me to remember God’s promise to me in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Thank you Havilah!

Thank you for this study today.
I am always asking God for forgiveness…..I should have realised that God has forgived and God does Love me unconditionally. I need to focus more on the Word and keep me grounded in his Love.
I shouldnt justify my actions as I know that they are wrong. Just focus on the Love He has for me and live a more fearless and abundant life, free from guilt (the devil will not lie to me again).
I am really enjoying this study and I am really reflecting on each day and staying more grounded in His word.

In all my years I have never had such an ah-ha moment regarding who the devil is. He is not another god, he is an angel (fallen – well, pushed out :). Knowing that is one thing, but then ah-ha knowing it is another.

“You are not working “for” victory, you are working “from” victory. You’re not working “for” love, you are living as someone who “is” loved.”

I have never heard it put that way before and I appreciate the clarity. Now I have to make sure I remember my position and not give it up so easily.

    Thanks Havilah

Wow! Love it all! This really stood out to me for today:
How you choose to live is the biggest decision you get to make. You can live powerless or powerful, fearful, or faith-filled.
We can choose to believe God in all of His word or we can give in & choose to believe the devil’s lies that will steal so much from us.
Love these gold nuggets of insight Havilah! <3
